Changelog
This log tracks meaningful changes to the site — content updates, structural adjustments, new pages, and fixes. It is not an exhaustive commit history. We record the changes that affect what you see and use, skipping the routine dependency bumps and build tweaks that happen behind the scenes. If you are a returning visitor and something looks different, check here first.
Performance and caching improvements
Revised static asset headers for improved cache hit rates on repeat visits. Updated the cache and performance guide with new field observations from the latest Cloudflare Pages deployment pipeline. Fixed an edge case where certain layout demo images were not loading on first visit in Safari.
New guide: WordPress Theme Structure
Published the WordPress theme structure guide covering template hierarchy, hooks, and file organisation conventions. Added cross-references from the demo pages to relevant guide sections. Minor typography adjustments on the Ravel and Saga demo pages to improve readability at narrow viewport widths.
Pop section and movie indexes
Launched the Pop section with movie and book indexes. Added pages for actors, directors, genres, producers, studios, and writers. Created the Tom Hanks and Turner and Hooch detail pages. Reorganised the footer navigation to include the new section.
Search and navigation overhaul
Replaced the previous category-based navigation with a unified top bar covering Demos, Guides, News, Pop, About, and Changelog. Added client-side search with keyboard shortcut support. Improved mobile navigation with a cleaner slide-down pattern.
SVG and UI icons guide
Published the SVG and UI icons guide addressing sprite sheets, inline SVG patterns, and accessibility considerations for icon systems. Updated the Picturesque demo with notes on icon placement within image-forward layouts.
Layout demo expansion
Added the Vaaka and Unique demo layouts. Vaaka explores balanced horizontal compositions inspired by Finnish minimalism. Unique experiments with non-repeating section patterns and custom component shapes. Both include full grid analysis and spacing documentation.
Accessibility audit and fixes
Conducted a full keyboard navigation audit across all pages. Fixed focus-visible outlines on card components, improved heading hierarchy on demo pages, and added skip-to-content links. Updated the semantic HTML guide with findings from the audit.
Field notes section and editorial posts
Launched the News section with initial field notes covering topics from upcycled clothing to disc golf equipment analysis. Established the editorial voice and format for shorter pieces alongside the reference-style guides.
Typography and readability guide
Published the typography guide covering type scales, line height, measure, and practical testing across devices. Included observations from testing the demo layouts with real long-form content of varying density.
Design system refinement
Consolidated the visual language across all pages — standardised the card system, introduced the pinned-note variant for featured demos, and tightened spacing between section modules. The paper-grain background texture was made more subtle after user feedback.
Cache and performance guide
Published the caching and performance guide with field-tested strategies for static sites on edge networks. Covered asset hashing, render-blocking resources, and the practical tradeoffs between aggressive caching and content freshness.
Semantic HTML layouts guide
Published the first guide covering semantic HTML patterns for accessible page structures. Included landmark roles, sectioning elements, heading hierarchy, and common mistakes observed in production themes.
Initial demo layouts
Launched the core set of demo layouts — Ravel, Chun, Saga, Stargazer, Retro Fitted, Picturesque, Socially Awkward, Trending, and Prototype. Each demo includes grid analysis, spacing notes, typography documentation, and common implementation pitfalls.
